The Alba Trophy was held on a beautiful day with Woking GC at its very best (now ranked 17th in England). RAGS were represented by David Rowe, a Woking member recently returned to the RAGS family following a discussion with the President, and Adam Hayward. Last year RAGS won the Net prize and came close in the main event and hopes were to go one better. The morning round left us 2 shots back from the leaders, who were the Old Malvernians, winners of the Halford Hewitt this year, with whom we were playing. In the afternoon we focused on beating our playing partners and all was going well until the 12th were an errant approach followed by a three putt set us back. In the end we again won the Net and were close in the main event. Next year – third time lucky. PS Malvern bogied the 18th to drop back into a play off and then doubled bogied it in extra time to lose, in front a good crowd, to the Old Wykehamists.
