Scottish Tour 23 & 26 Aug 18

The tour this year was terminated early due to the weather forecast for the Sunday fixture which showed gale force winds and torrential rain. The opposition had a number of calls off due to the forecast!

Our match against the Highland and Lowland Brigades GS on Thursday 23rd August on the championship Montrose Links saw a victory for the Gunners by 2.5 matches to 1.5.

Leading the field were Nick Fleming and Doc Watson winning against the oppositions strongest pairing by an impressive 5&4. Next out were Duncan McReynolds and Dave Burnett (ex 29 Regt Wksp) who prevailed by 3&2. The dream team of Graeme Paton and Scott Forsyth were surprising losers to the R&A duo of Ewan Chalmers and Bruce Osborne going down by 2 holes. The final pairing, McIntosh and Adamson, had an exciting match, the Gunners being down 5 holes on the 11 tee but managed to halve the match on the 18th. Our opposition were last seen contemplating suicide!

Apart from a short, sharp and heavy shower during the round, we were blessed with a very pleasant day with just enough wind to make the course interesting.
