RAGS vs Royal Navy GS – 7 Jul 19

Result:  Match halved 2 1/2 – 2 1/2

On a very, very wet day both teams arrived at Liphook where 2 older members of the societies, one from each side, decided it was too wet to play.  We played one singles and four 4 balls. John Caiger on his first outing as the captain led from the front in the singles and lost!  The second pairing, The Generals, Richard Mountford and John Milne were convincing winners.  Pair 3, Simon Dunk and Iain Campbell, a very fine late replacement, won the 18^th to halve their match. Robert Purdy and Clive Hunt lost ground over the final 6 holes to lose and with Tony Pratt and Alan Goldsworthy winning the last match the overall match was halved.

A great day of golf, even with water proofs and umbrellas to the fore, was had by all.  The match was followed by an excellent lunch but with the overall cost increasing the RN are moving the fixture to Blackmoor GC next year.

Date for 2020 is 5 July 20.
