Twenty players arrived at the New Zealand to be greeted by a sight that had been seldom seen in June 2019 – the sun. The course was as ever in excellent condition and the heather as ever tenacious. At lunch, RAGS were down 1 1/2 to 3 1/2 and the Judges were feeling confident. However, the RAGS Match Manager did remark that the Society prides itself on a ‘playing’ a good lunch (and this was a magnificent spread) and advised the Judges to have caution. Each side fielded 4 pairs in the afternoon, when the RAGS rallied strongly and achieved a victory that had seemed unlikely at lunch. Our thanks go to the Club staff both on the Course and in the Club House for looking after both sides so well once again to the Circuit Judges for providing such convivial company.
