RAGS v RNGS at Liphook on Friday 19 May 2017
Chris Copeland (match manager)
Result: RAGS 4 – 4 RNGS
We had a most enjoyable day at Liphook GC yesterday and all who played agreed the course was in fantastic condition. It rained quite heavily in the afternoon (with hail in the morning!) but it did not affect the enjoyment of the day. In the morning greensomes we had one handsome win, but we lost the other three, 5/6, 2/3 and one down on the 18th. In the afternoon foursomes we won 3 (5/4, 6/5 and 3/2) and lost one (2 down). So it ended with an honourable draw.
Secretary’s note: It would appear that there is a possibility that the RNGS may request a change in format for the day, playing only 1 round (4 ball better ball) rather than the usual 2 followed by a 2 course lunch. In the afternoon there are 2 potential courses of action; either a reduced numbers foursomes or, if Liphook were to allow it, freedom of the course for those who want to play a second round.
I would welcome comments and thoughts, particularly from those RAGS members who volunteered to play in this fixture.
