Result: RAGS 3 – 2 Artist Rifles

The Artist Rifles only turned up with 7 players so 3 of them had to play singles against our pairs: actually this was not such a disadvantage in the St Andrew’s Foursomes format in which this match is traditionally played. The match could hardly have been closer. The results were a loss 2&1, a win 2&1, won by one hole, lost by one hole, so it all hinged on the final match which RAGS won 5&3.

This match has been convened for 52 years resulting in 34 victories for RAGS, 12 victories for ARGS, 5 draws and one washout.

This match suffers by being very close to the RAGS Spring Meeting. It is always difficult to get people to sign up when they play on the Wednesday and often on the Sunday against St George’s Hill. The match manager will investigate moving this match to a better date, but it will depend on RAGS availability, ARGS availability, AOGS matches and Blackmoor being able to accommodate us. He will also see if players would prefer the 4BBB format.
